Class 24 Respray
I got this Bachman Class 24 a while ago, but have never got round to putting a decoder in it.
I thought it would make a good respray project to restore to Green and one of the Early numbers that were
loaned to the Southern while they were waiting on the Class 33s.
First job was to strip down all the odds and ends that can be removed and stash them safely in a baggy.

Then it was into brake fluid for a good long soak and a scrub. I must sat the faded blue look is great. It would make an interesting
scrap yard finish itself.

Then after a good wash in soapy water, I gave it a spray with Hlafords Primer for Plastics. It was at this stage I checked and noticed the
numbers and logo had not quite gone, despite careful attention with wet and dry and a fibreglass pencil.

I then started experimenting with various wire for handrails. I realised that the thickness of the wire was fine, but the hole size
was too large, so I filled the holes with Milliput [not shown]

Next up then, I fitted wire for the front grab handles, this was guitar string

and the Brassmaster etches for the cab handles

Primed with Halfords spray primer

Here you can see me ready to airbrush a first coat of green

and there she is all green!!

The buffer beam was hand painted so has a glossy look to it, but matt varnish will take that edge off

Here is the finished Body, the Cant Rail was a mixture of careful masking and handpainting

Then the whole body was sprayed with Gloss Varnish and the transfers added

Finally a coat of Matt Varnish

And decoder fitted and onto the layout, eventually I will fit lights, but I had run out of the LEDs I needed
so it didn't get done at the time! I also need to fit the headcode covers which I have repainted, also all the front buffer beam detailing
parts.

I hope that gives you some courage to attempt a nice project that makes your stock that bit more personal and realistic to your layout if that's what your
going for!
