Newington Road Bridge
To keep each of the bridge pages a bit smaller I have separated them, this is the
second of 3 bridges I have built for the layout and is based on the Newington Road
Bridge that many of the shots of Ramsgate Station and EMU shed are taken from.
It is of concrete construction and has a rather lovely, if you like that sort of thing, supporting structure underneath it.
Early attempts were shelved in favour of this structure made from square plastic tubing.
It is not 100% accurate to the actual bridge but is close enough for my liking so far.

The I started to make the side walls and roof in the bridge,
this was so large I didn't have a piece of plasticard large enough and this
caused some headscratching later on

Then the side walls, I solved the huge size of the bridge problem by using a piece of hardboard to make the road surface. By Glueing
everything to this it gave me a very sturdy structure that I can lift and move about to work on at ease.

More detail on the sides

Cable condiut detail to finish and a coat if Grey Primer

Side Buttress walls and cable that runs to the conduits.. very fiddly!

I then began trying to paint the structure a realistic concrete colour..
not easy. I started with airbrushing on Railmatch Concrete colour, the best part of one whole pot. Then
I went over this with Frame dirt and Weathered Black. I think all it need
now is some specific hand painted weather details

Next the the bridge is a set of steps and ramp from more or less track
level to road level, made form plasticard and brass wire for the hand rails

Once the ramp and steps was primed I positioned it to get an idea of how
it all looks, I'll fill you in on the huts and electrical cabs in another installment!

Here we can see more permanent bedding in, the low sleeper wall was made from slater plasticard and Evergreen I-Beam.
I used a trigger happy hot glue gun for speed and ease to stick all the card and
polystyrene down! The bridge at theis stage though is still removeable, as I haven't yet ballasted and that would be nigh on impossible
with the bridge stuck down. I am building this so the bridge can lift out and slot back in as needed and may well keep it this way even after
I have ballasted.

As the bridge is mostly constructed any other updates in this area will feature on other pages such as the Hard Landscaping page
